Not all links are available yet on the English version of this site. The translation is taking some time. As soon as a translation is available those links will work as well.
Since September 2004 I’ve started to post small pieces here about working, living and studying in Chengdu, China.
If you would like
some general information about the country, population, religion, etc. click on
the link “Information China” located on the left navigation menu.
If you would like to read about my trip through China in 2001, click on the link
“28 day journey”.
Behind the link “Highlights Chengdu and Highlights Sichuan” you will find all
kinds of information and photo’s about the city Chengdu and the province Sichuan
and behind the link Highlights China you will find the residual story's and
pictures. The rest of the links are self-explanatory.
This site will be regularly updated with new information and pictures.
The reporting with
video's is a big success. So I will go on with travel video's from the TV sender
CCTV9. Every week another.
Click in the left menu: Travel China - Travel video's.
And culture and history video's are under the
topic 'Culture'.
A Westerner’s
first impression of China is a very chaotic and completely incomprehensible
place. But the more you immerse yourself, have patience and show respect for the
Chinese in general and for their different customs, the more things become
clear. Don’t think that we Westerners invented the wheel because it isn’t true.
Realize that there are a lot of ways things can be done and one way isn’t
necessarily better or worse than the other.
Don’t expect a clear story out of me. I observe something, I am surprised a lot
and those are the kind of experiences I try to convey. Just see it as a
regularly returning column.
